    How do I change the encoding of an actual html file? I know how to set the encoding in the heading of the doc. I'm talking about the file itself.

    After I open a file I select the encoding I want from the menu at the top (I'm trying to change from us-ascii to utf-8). Then I click "open" and then save the file. But it won't stick -- when I reopen the file it's back to us-ascii.

    Am I missing something really obvious? :confused:

    This is a cPanel forum. I suggest to post your question in programming forum to get support/advice from other programmers.

    BTW, you can set character encoding using META:

    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">
