Hello!

It seems we have some problems when it comes to the domain that our WHM servers are put up on, in our company environment.

Let's say our WHM server has the address of liveserver1.example.com.
Our development websites have addresses in the sort of:
1. sellbooks.example.com
2. website2.example.com
3. buyclothes.example.com

example.com will no longer be used by the company and so we have to change.

We want to change the address to the WHM server to liveserver1.domain.com, and also the website addresses to:
1. sellbooks.domain.com
2. website2.domain.com
3. buyclothes.example.com

Maybe this is a very big question, but I am wondering how to do this best practice.

Hello @MichaelW.,

You can change the server's hostname using Web Host Manager >> Change Hostname:

Change Hostname - Version 74 Documentation - cPanel Documentation

Then, use WHM >> Modify An Account to change the primary domain name associated with each cPanel account:

Modify an Account - Version 74 Documentation - cPanel Documentation

Let me know if you have any questions about these options.

Thanks!
Hello!

Thank you for the reply!

Is it that simple? Will it have any bigger downtime (thinking about DNS changes)?

Hi @MichaelW.,

You shouldn't face downtime as long as you assign the cPanel server's name servers to the new domain name at it's registrar ahead of time (24-72 hours to be extra safe).

Thank you.
