Firstly: We have recently taken control of our own dedicated server running WHM. We want to change the host name, but after searching the net, there have been people who have then had licensing errors from cPanel, once the host name has been changed.

    Is this still an issue?

Secondly: We want to use our own domain for the hostname IE server.domain.co.uk, this domain has email accounts attached to it and has its own cPanel on the same server.

Does this effect anything, or rather, is it OK to use this domain name?

    WHM Version 11.26.8
    Regards
    Nick

You can change the hostname through the WHM. If the cPanel license has issues after the fact just run this in a root SSH session and it will fix the problem.

    Code:
    /usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt
Should be fine to use that domain. Just make sure you have an A entry for your hostname in place in the domain's DNS zone and if you are planning on running your own nameservers, have them setup in the WHM under Main >> Server Configuration >> Basic cPanel/WHM Setup and ensure that the A entries for the nameservers are in place as well.
