Changing mailman password

When I go to the mailing list control panel and click on the little key icon next to the name of a mailing list, I get a panel that says "Modify mailing list password", and inside the input button I see the words "[an error occurred while processing this directive]". If I put a new password in the box and click this button nothing happens.

How do I change the password for a mailman mailing list?

For the record, I contacted user support from my host company, and they determined that this is a known problem with the xcontroller theme, and until that is fixed, a workaround is to change the theme to something else. I found the x2 theme worked fine.
