I want to know if I can do the following and how it can be done.

I want to change the main shared ip of 192.168.5.50 to 192.168.5.48 and then setup 192.168.5.50 as a nameserver.

I am assuming that I will need to change the host server ip to do this then change the main shared ip in the basic setup in whm to 192.168.5.48. After this I would need to add the nameserver ns3.mydomain.com to the list but will I be able to do this and what other changes would I need to make.

Can this be done?

Thank you for your help in advance. If you need me to be more specific I can and will.

I found this thread http://forums.cpanel.net/f5/help-change-main-shared-ip-103433.html but that does not work for what I would like to do.

Hello :)

Yes, it's acceptable to use a shared IP address that's assigned to accounts as an IP address for a name server. The important entries on the cPanel server are the "A" records that you have added for your name servers. Then, make sure you have registered these name servers to the matching IP addresses at the domain registrar.

Thank you.
