{I am a complete newbie so please bear with me]

I recently bought an unmanaged dedicated server from theplanet. The object was to install a program and database that had outgrown a virtual server.

After spending a lot of time and money to pay support to set it as we wanted, we were almost to a stage that we could start using this site.

Unfortunately I need to change the theme on cpanel from x3 to x and were told by support that its beyond their scope and pointed me here.

    Can you please advise?

You can change the theme for each account or the default theme for entire server.

For first, go in WHM -> Modify an Account then select an account, click Modify and select X theme.

The server default theme is in WHM -> Basic cPanel/WHM Setup
Why dont't you keep X3? Has many features, like email security settings. X is very old.

You should be able to change it by editing the account via WHM. I'm not sure why you'd want to change this though, x is no longer supported and will not have all the latest features and enhancements X3 has.

    Hi Gang,
We have to use "x" theme for our software to work properly. We run a parking site that users can park domains, so we can only create the parking domain if the server is using either "bluelagoon" or "x"theme otherwise parking fails 50% of the time without it. This is directly from the developer of our software,

    Cheers

In cPanel 11, added new methods by which to interact with our APIs that your developer may look into using. Using our APIs is preferred over triggering pages directly via code (which is considered poor practice if you have reseller or root access to the server). As of version 11, your developer can use our XML-API to call API1/API2 function calls that park a domain.

Parking a domain is an API1 function call. If I wanted to park a domain, the sample (raw API1) code would be:

    <cpanel Park="park(example.com)">

Assuming I wanted to park example.com on my account. Refer to our documentation for more information on how you specify which cPanel account to trigger this call as, as well as information regarding the XML API. This documentation is available at:

    http://www.cPanel.net/plugins/xmlapi

If you have any questions about the APIs or need assistance, feel welcome to send an email to sales@cpanel.net - there are also many code samples posted throughout these community forums.

Using our APIs will negate the need for using a specific theme.

Keep in mind that the x theme does not provide your users with the functionality new to version 11, and as such is no longer actively maintained. The x theme will be phased out in version 12. Users who prefer the appearance of the x theme should use the x style of the x3 theme instead. Bluelagoon is no longer supported, those who prefer the appearance of this interface should use the Bluelagoon style of the x3 theme instead.
