Can I chmod 700 /var/cpanel/ without messing up CPANEL?

chmod 700 = Owner (read+write+execute). I dunno anyone else who would use the /var/cpanel directory besides the owner creating accounts, am I wrong?

The reason for doing this is to protect this directory from preying eyes.

User accouts have to read their info out of it.

711 might work though.
