I see this in the WHM Plugins, but the description is vague and doesn't list a website. It just says:

Virus Protection for Email and Filemanager Uploads

Any comments or suggestions on this freebie?

ClamAV is one of the security tool included in cPanel and it is generally used as antivirus for emails and for data files. You can easily scan your data files and emails from the cPanel itself. It helps you to determine infected files under your account so that you can easily take action so as to clear and secure your account.

Well, yeah, but a Google search didn't tell me whether people think it's useful or a waste of space :)

That's somewhat debatable, though. cPHulk is included, but it's definitely not better than ConfigServer Firewall. CSF is NOT included, but that doesn't mean it's a bad program.

ClamAV can be a useful tool on a machine for virus scanning. It can also take up a lot of resources when it scans if you have it set to cron scan periodically (rather than just allowing Virus Scanning in the user's cPanel). As such, it depends on how you intend to provide it and use it.

If you do cron scan the server, I'd check prior forum threads discussing restricting the scan to set directories as well as running the scan at a low activity time on the machine due to the intensity of the directory scan.
