In trying to plan for the unexpected, being that cpanel is licensed per IP, if the colocation / dedicated server site changes, then the server IP would change as well.

Does cpanel offer any type of grace period to transition that license? Like give an owner two weeks to run the license on multiple servers for migration or does one have to buy an entire new license?

If you purchased your license directly from cPanel, then you should contact the Billing Department at for this issue.

Otherwise, you should contact your cPanel License Provider for this information.

I will say that if multiple servers attempt to use the same license of cPanel/WHM (by being on the same IP address), it will cause licensing issues. If the server is on an IP address that isn't licensed then cPanel/WHM will not work.

However, this is a billing issue and such should be addressed directly by the appropriate billing personnel rather than here on the forums.
