Hello,
I have the similar issue..
I can login the Backup space manually via sFTP ... although I'm unable to validate the WHM Backup Configuration.

I'm getting this >> Error: Validation for transport “MyBackupSpace” failed: Permission denied (publickey, password).

I'm stacked in such a silly task..
can anyone help please? :-(

Hello @hookie,

Can you let us know which version of cPanel & WHM is installed on your system?

Code:
cat /usr/local/cpanel/version
When testing the SFTP connection manually, are you testing from your cPanel server's command line? Also, do you have root access to the remote SFTP backup destination? If so, can you let us know the output to /var/log/secure when the destination validation attempt fails?

Thank you.

Hello,
Version: 11.70.0.47 - Yes, I've root access [intend to backup all users so I didn't try to use a specific user's cP terminal]

I've created FTP (no errors) & SFTP (uneble to be verified:)

SFTP Validate atempt
Error: Validation for transport “backup name” failed: Permission denied (publickey, password)

Also, var/log/secure does't produce any fail information

I've tried both pub key with or without a passphrase - Nothing :-(

Thank you for helping!!!

Hello @hookie,

Can you open a support ticket so we can take a closer look at the affected system? You can post the ticket number here and we will link this thread to the support ticket.

Thank you.

Hello,

To update, our Technical Analysts determined this was the result of an unauthorized SSH key. The advice provided was to ensure the SSH key was authorized on the remote destination.

Thank you.
