I am setting up a new dedicated Cpanel Server. I activated Backup without realizing the directory at the bottom was set to "/". all the sites went down. Hmmm.

I took a look at another servers backup setttings and noticed the backup directory to be /backup.

Question. Does this directory exist under each account or do I need to create it?

I just want to create backups on the server automatically that can then be ftp'd to a local machine.

    Thank you.

You do not want the backup on the same hard drive. If you have an external FTP you can set your backup to go there automatically, or to a second drive on the same rig.

Lots of threads around on this topic.
