I want to switch a parked domain with the primary domain. There are email addresses on the primary domain. I was going to follow this post http://forums.cpanel.net/f5/switch-main-domain-parked-domain-account-137441.html#post633425 but noticed it was over 3 years old and wanted to double check the process still works the same way before losing all my clients emails.

  1. cPanel - Remove parked domain
  2. WHM - Change primary domain
  3. cPanel - Add old primary domain as a parked domain.

According to the post above all the email accounts (and emails) should still be there and attached to the correct domain. Could someone please confirm that this is the case.

Many Thanks!

Hello :)

Yes, these steps are still valid. However, I suggest backing up the account before making any changes.

Thank you.

Thanks Michael. Worked perfectly.

One thing I forgot that was mentioned in the linked post was to add the forwarders. They had switched to the new primary domain. I just needed to deleted those and add them to the previous domain (now parked). Thanks again!!

Does this work with the (old) primary domain being expired and no long in use / available? In other words, the currently parked domain will become the new primary and the current primary (which no longer works) will go away.
Yes, you could use the same process, excluding the final step of adding the original domain name back to the account as an Addon domain.

Thank you.
