I needed mod_fastcgi so I went ahead and compiled it through ports manually (not using the CPanel deal). In the process i noticed it didn't find apache and went ahead and fetched it. What I don't know is if it compiled it and replaced the apache created by buildapache. I got the impression that it did. To be safe I went ahead and compiled apache again via CPanel. Everything seems to be fine.

    1) Did I royally screw something up in the process?
    2) Should I deinstall apache via ports?
    3) How do I tell ports that I already have apache and skip those dependecies? How do I point it to the appropriate directory where CPanel has the source?
    4) Does installing a port via CPanel search for these types of conflicts automatically?

    Thanks guys.
