I’m posting this mostly out of curiosity than anything else.

What would be the minimum connection speed for a server with 150 accounts on it?

Account sizes would be mostly on the smaller side with low to medium traffic usage.

I realize that T1 is the norm but like I said I am mostly curious to know what the minimum upload speed should be.

    Thanks to all that reply,

Architecture, speed, peering and network security all come to mind IMO.

Why have a virtual hosting server on an OC-12 if the network port isn't but a 10 MB/s? As well, if there are no bonded backbones to the DC and good redundancy, your "effective/realizable" speed will never live up to anything more than the network's limitations.

Personally, I use one of the most expensive co-lo's around, but having been with them for over 5 years, I know that if I detect any latency that BGP doesn't immediately correct, I can just pickup the phone and the techs at the NOC will manually tweak outbound traffic for me.
