Hello,

I have a question about the WHM function Copy an Account From Another Server With an Account Password is the same thing when transfer account from one Cpanel to another Cpanel, it will transfer everything over for that domain account, emails, databases, account settings ... etc ? I tried checking through the docs but really couldn't find much about this particular function.

I have 2 accounts I want to copy from one Cpanel server to our Cpanel server. Both are using the same versions of WHM/Cpanel also. I have the accounts username, passwords and full domains names/IP's from their current server.

Thanks for any info or assistance,

Hello :)

Yes, this option will transfer accounts without the root password to the source server. It's designed to transfer the same aspects of the account that the normal transfer options transfer over. However, this feature is only intended as a last resort in cases where you do not have root access to the source server.

Thank you.

Yes that what I thought. I don't have root access to this server, just moving a couple of account to our server.
You could make full backups of the accounts in the old server, copy them to the new server and restore (as root).

Yes we have backup copies of each of the account we made through their current Cpanel Backups, home directory, incase we can't copy them from their old server to our server via the WHM.

Thanks,
Mike

OK I tried to copy one of the accounts and it failed. Here is the final output:
Code:
Extracting tarball................... Done
cpmove- prefix is missing, but non prefixed directory exists.. the cpmove- prefix discarded. Extracting Domain....Done
Sorry, we were unable to transfer the account. Information about traceinc's primary domain is either missing or corrupt. For more information, please examine /home/traceinc/cp/traceinc Extract Failed Invalid Account
This file referred to examine doesn't exist on either server. There was also a reference to backup on their current server, source, was already in progress and could not be obtained. Can I try again later or will this not work at all?

I've attached a PDF snapshot of the complete output attempting to copy an account. Hopefully someone can review it and tell me what the problem is and if it's either possible or not to copy the account.

thanks,

Mike

It's difficult to troubleshoot issues with the source server without root access to it. You may want to try uploading the backup that you generated for the account to the new server and then restoring it.

Thank you.

Yes I agree. My personal opinion is that the WHM function to copy accounts with the password is not really useful just too many issues to be concerned with regarding the source server. But after I was able to create FULL Backups from the source server via the accounts Cpanels, then using the /scripts/restorepkg (options) on our server everything went smoothly didn't even have to create the new accounts through the WHM. The /scripts/restorepkg is a very useful tool :)
