For some reason I am seeing files across my server in user directories called core.**** They usually have a number after them. One directory had over 40 of these.

    What are they?
The attached screenshot is from a directory I deleted all of them from yesterday and they are back today

These files contain information about the system when a script caused a core dump. You seem to have a script creating a core dump, so I strongly recommend investigating the cause of the core dump and correcting the issue so these files are no longer generated.

Thanks for the response, I kind of figured it was the core dump I have read about, but it is happening in most if not all of the sites that have php running in them actively. This site I was refering is a wallpaper script. But I have seen it in Joomla directories as well as some other scripts I am running and have never had the issue. These scripts didnt have any updates or anything.

I recently recompiled with xsl and am running Zend.

    './configure' '--enable-bcmath' '--enable-calendar' '--enable-ftp' '--enable-gd-native-ttf' '--enable-libxml' '--enable-magic-quotes' '--enable-mbstring' '--enable-pdo=shared' '--enable-sockets' '--prefix=/usr' '--with-curl=/opt/curlssl/' '--with-curlwrappers' '--with-freetype-dir=/usr' '--with-gd' '--with-gettext' '--with-imap=/opt/php_with_imap_client/' '--with-imap-ssl=/usr' '--with-jpeg-dir=/usr' '--with-kerberos' '--with-libxml-dir=/opt/xml2/' '--with-mcrypt=/opt/libmcrypt/' '--with-mhash=/opt/mhash/' '--with-mime-magic' '--with-mysql=/usr' '--with-mysql-sock=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' '--with-openssl=/usr' '--with-openssl-dir=/usr' '--with-pdo-mysql=shared' '--with-pdo-sqlite=shared' '--with-png-dir=/usr' '--with-pspell' '--with-sqlite=shared' '--with-ttf' '--with-xpm-dir=/usr' '--with-xsl=/opt/xslt/' '--with-zlib' '--with-zlib-dir=/usr'

    Any suggestions?
    If not thanks anyways

There may be installed PHP modules that are conflicting with one another. I recommend letting our technical analysts take a look at this for you: http://tickets.cPanel.net/submit
