    Hello,

I have automated cPanel so its sending me daily backup .tar.gz files of ALL websites hosted on the server. The backups are automatically sent to my private FTP

Sometimes, the tar.gz files are corrupted. This does not happen all the times, but it happens quite often.

I use WinRar to open the tar.gz files.

Why is this happening? Any ideas anyone?

    Thanks

Most likely it's either because of a bug in WinRAR or a poor internet connection.

I sometimes too find that a tar.gz archives don't open in WinRAR but work fine when uncompressed through a Linux shell.

So I'd agree that it's more likely to be an issue with WinRAR (or indeed the Internet connection) that with the backups corrupting at source.

As an aside - I use powerarchiver for all my compressed files on windows and rarely have any issues with it.
