For many many years now, the standard for anonymous logins for FTP sites has been to use a username of 'anonymous' or 'ftp'. As of cPanel 11, this standard has been broken for accounts on the shared IP. It worked before on cPanel 10. It still works fine for those accounts with dedicated IP addresses.

Now, for shared IP accounts on cPanel 11, you must login with 'anonymous@domain.com' or 'ftp@domain.com'. No known browser or other tool that does anonymous logins with a checkbox works anymore.

Is there a work around and/or does cPanel plan on dealing with this in a future release. This standard has been around for YEARS and traditional cPanel has supported internet standards.

Looking forward to a fix, otherwise my clients will have to purchase IP addresses.

Thanks in advance for any comments, replies, and helpful solutions.

As I noted on your other identical post, in cPanel 10 accounts did need dedicated IP addresses to have true anonymous FTP accounts. In that respect, this functionality has not changed from version 10 to version 11.

You can verify this by viewing this feature request: http://bugzilla.cpanel.net/show_bug.cgi?id=886

You are welcome to submit a feature request to http://bugzilla.cpanel.net requesting support for true anonymous FTP accounts regardless of shared or dedicated IP space.

REQ: cPanel Support for Anonymous FTP Standard Logins for Shared IP Hosting

Many thanks for your reply(s). My apologies for a seemingly double post. That initial post was more of a reply (about #20) to a different post about anonymous uploads and downloads (which would generally require a dedicated IP to make occur easily for users). I then asked those discussing that issue if they had information that could assist me (since hopefully I had both answered their questions and maybe even given them some extra helpful info).

Because I had a different issue that required a different title to get appropriately noticed, I went ahead and made a new topic AFTER searching the database further to ensure there were no other recent appropriately titled posts dealing with the issue.

So, per your suggestion, I put in an enhancement request for this issue. Of course, if anyone would like to vote for it, you're welcome (encouraged by me?) to do so. :D
