I started getting backup errors a week or two ago, which may have coincided with an update, but I am not 100% sure on that. Could anyone please point me in the right direction as to where the problem may be? This error seems to happen every day and on a different database .db file each day. Thanks:

    Code:

    Hello Andy,

It's possible this relates to an internal case we have open (CPANEL-20644). Can you open a support ticket so we can take a closer look at your system and see what's happening? You can post the ticket number here and I'll link this thread to the ticket.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Internal case CPANEL-20644 is open to address an issue where backups can fail on higher latency disks (e.g. NAS, NFS) with an error message like this:

    Code:
The system received an error from the “SQLite” database “/nas/backup/.meta/dbame.db”: SQLITE_ERROR (no such table: backup_paths) at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/Exception/CORE.pm line 336.
I'll monitor this case and update this thread with more information as it becomes available. In the meantime, you can temporarily disable the use of metadata files for backups by running the following command as "root":

    Code:
    whmapi1 backup_config_set disable_metadata=yes
Note when metadata creation is disabled , the following actions occur:
    • WHM disables the File and Directory Restoration interface (Home >> WHM >> Backup >> File and Directory Restoration). The interface will display a warning that indicates the setting that disabled it.
    • cPanel hides the File and Directory Restoration interface (Home >> cPanel >> Files >> File and Directory Restoration) from the cPanel Home interface.
    Thank you.

    Hello @savinna,

High latency disks make it more likely to encounter this issue, but it's also possible this can happen on standard disks. I'll continue to monitor this case and update this thread with more information as it becomes available.

    Thank you.

I seem to have the same problem, but I would like to confirm. During one test backup, for 5 of 17 accounts, I get two rounds of error messages in the backup log. Below are examples for one account "magmanet":

    Code:
[2018-08-04 08:26:16 -0400] info [backup] Pruning metadata for backup at /backup/2018-08-04
warn [backup] There was an error pruning the backup dir '/backup/2018-08-04/accounts' for user 'magmanet': Cpanel::Exception::Database::Error/(XID huw528) The system received an error from the “SQLite” database “/backup/.meta/magmanet.db”: SQLITE_ERROR (no such table: backup_paths)
     at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/Exception/CORE.pm line 336.
    [snipped]

    Hello @Matthew Swift,

Yes, the error message you provided suggests the issue is related to internal case CPANEL-20644. Note that cPanel & WHM version 74 is tentatively planned for publication to the RELEASE build tier this week and includes a solution to this issue:

Fixed case CPANEL-20644: Improve error handling when pruning missing backups.

    Thank you.
