Just to let you know, there seems to be a problem with SFTP transfer destinations and relative paths. This has been touched on in a couple of other threads (end of FTPS (Secure FTP) for WHM Backups?, also In Progress - [CPANEL-24094] Relative paths required for backup destinations) but there doesn't seem to be any progress.

We have a number of VPS which all backup nightly to our Diskstation. This has always worked fine in the past. We are setting up a new server for the first time in ages and are trying to set up the diskstation as the additional destination. In the past we've always set the destination path to:

/Backup/Servername

and this has always worked fine. However, when I try to enter this now, i get a message saying 'You must enter a relative path'. If i remove the / from the front, it accepts the address but the validation doesn't work. It connects to the server and writes the validation file, but fails to delete it saying:

"Error: Validation for transport “Diskstation” failed: Could not delete the file we had uploaded onto the server: Couldn't delete remote file: No such file"

The file is there and can be deleted easily. But the backup system can't see it.

If I manually change the relevant destination file at var/cpanel/backup to add the / back in, everything works fine again. I think this needs looking into as clearly we aren't the only ones having this problem.

Hey there! I just spoke with our development team about CPANEL-24094 and I can say it is planned to be fixed soon. Of course, I can't give an exact ETA due to the nature of the development process, but it's something they are actively working on at this point and plan to have this resolved in the near future.

I've added the case to this ticket and set it to "In Progress" so I can give you an update once we get more details.
