Hello

In v78.0.20 version, it appears cphulkd down in service status in clean cpanel installation.

There is no error when cphulkd restarts.

Code:
[[email protected] ~]# /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/restartsrv_cphulkd
Waiting for “cphulkd” to restart gracefully ………………waiting for “cphulkd” to initialize ………finished.

Service Status
cphulkd (cPhulkd - processor - dormant mode - accepting connections) is running as root with PID 15917 (systemd+/proc check method).

Startup Log
Apr 04 14:05:04 server.damla.com systemd[1]: Starting cPanel brute force detector services...
Apr 04 14:05:04 server.damla.com systemd[1]: PID file /var/run/cphulkd_processor.pid not readable (yet?) after start.
Apr 04 14:05:04 server.damla.com systemd[1]: Started cPanel brute force detector services.

cphulkd restarted successfully.

Hi @vacancy

Does it continue to happen? Is anything noted in /usr/local/cpanel/logs/cphulkd_errors.log?

There may be a case associated with the behavior you're seeing:

CPANEL-26599 - cphulk is shown as down in initial install because the db socket isn't created in dormant mode until there is a valid login

This is currently being worked on and from what I'm reading in the case it shouldn't continue to cause a problem.

The problem continues on some servers.

The cphulkd logs do not show any errors, but the service status screen shows cphulkd failed.

I had this issue today on upgrading to v78.0.20. Logging out and then back in seems to have stopped the notifications.

For anyone still experiencing issues does the problem persist if you disable cphulk's dormant mode by going to WHM>>Server Configuration>>Tweak Settings -> Dormant services

I just tested, and yes, when I uncheck that cphulkd does not appear to go down with a reboot, although nscd still hangs apparently. That one comes back up on its own after ~5-6 minutes though.
