In Progress CPANEL-40053 - Contact email addresses are wrong for all client accounts on private hosted cPanel server

I host a private cPanel server with 80+ accounts, and one of the users pointed out to me this morning that he can't reset his email account password because the displayed contact email address isn't correct.

So I go to https://webmail.example.com/resetpass, enter in his email address, and the shown email address is " z—[email protected]—s.com ", not even close to the user's email address. Other domains show contact email addresses like " i—[email protected]—m.com " and " a—[email protected]—l.com ". It should be noted that the contact email addresses for the individual accounts *are* correct, so I don't know where these other addresses are coming from, or how to fix them...

Hey there! We show random addresses on that page to keep the security of the real contact address intact. However, I created CPANEL-40053 a few weeks ago to bring up this problem, but it hasn't been resolved just yet. I'll be sure to add this report to that case, and I'll post an update here if I get more details.

Random addresses should show ONLY if there is NO contact email address (per docs).

What's going on? (Did this ever work?)

It's as though cPanel completely ignores the contact email address's existence. I tried adding a second email address, it also is ignored.

Any status on CPANEL-40053?
