I am looking for a way to set up a cPanel serveer as a slave dns server to a domain. This is not a cluster issue as the primary server is not a cPanel server.

Hello :)

You are welcome to create a DNS Zone on the cPanel machine for a domain name and then use the cPanel server as one of the name servers associated with the domain name. However, DNS changes made on the hosting server will not automatically sync to the cPanel server. Is there anything more elaborate that you are attempting to setup?

Thank you.

Let me explain: In the old days, we use to setup dns by hand. We had 2 dns servers. primary (main) server & seconday (slave) server. We setup a zone file on the primary server and told the 2rd server it was a "slave" for that zone, thus pulling the zone file over

It's generally recommended to simply setup a DNS Cluster with cPanel DNS-Only instead. There is no native support for synchronization of zones from non-cPanel machines.

Thank you.
