Was looking at top just now because loads were a bit high, and saw something I'd never seen before regarding backups.

    "pkgacct - username - av: 2"

Using regular daily backups to a second drive. Previously it would simply say " pkgacct - username".

Something change? What does this do?

We are unaware of any changes to backup scripts outside of the /scripts/pkgacct-* scripts that are changed rather often. These are the scripts used to transfer accounts from other servers that are not running WHM ( such as Plesk, Ensim, Direct Admin, etc ).

Just where did you come across this syntax?

It was in the top output. It's apparently being caused by the following line in the backup script
    "pkgacct - ${user} - av: $archive_version";

I don't recall ever seeing it before...

    Hmmm...

Funny you mention that, I see this on one box...

    Code:
    root 16427 0.0 0.7 9204 7660 ? SN 19:03 0:00 pkgacct - wwwadse - av: 2
    root 16524 2.7 18.1 186728 185220 ? RN 19:03 4:38 pkgacct - wwwadse - av: 2

I see this as well on another box...

    Code:
    root 5476 5.0 0.5 12232 10612 ? SNs 22:05 0:00 pkgacct - links - av: 2
    root 5527 0.0 0.4 12232 9196 ? SN 22:05 0:00 pkgacct - links - av: 2

Seems to be a recurring pattern... anyone know what the "av: 2" means? :)

    Regards,

It's explained in the post made by bear. The number following the av: simply informs you which packing version pkgacct is using. It's purely informational.
