I would like to know how cPanel determines which partitions to use as home directories for new accounts. I believe there is something call HOMEMATCH. Where is the logic for HOMEMATCH that helps to determine what is the better partition for a new account installation? I have cPanel version 70. Does the same logic applies for migrations?

Thanks

Hello,

It is defined at WHM > Server configuration > Basic WEbhost manager setup > Basic Config > "Enter the location where you wish for new users’ home directories to be created. By default all directories matching the "Home Directory Prefix" are checked for available disk space and the directory with the most free space will be used."

If you wish you can change location where new accounts home directories should be created.

What about restoring an account. I know we can use the "restorepkg" script, is there a way to set/specify the partition for that specific account?

There are no arguments available with the restorepkg script that will allow you to choose which home partition to restore the account to. The account creation process is handled the same way during a restoration that it's handled during new account creations. That said, I encourage you to vote and add feedback to the following feature request:

Set home directory for reseller

This would provide a method for the root user and resellers to manually choose which home directory is utilized for account creation.

Thank you.

Hello,

Only option is 1: set new partition from WHM > Server configuration > Basic Webhost manager setup > Basic Config > "Enter the location where you wish for new users’ 2: restore account using restorepkg script 3: Revert changes in basic config.
