    /usr/local/cpanel/base/3rdparty/phpMyAdmin

    /usr/local/cpanel/base/horde/imp/

on a few servers i've been noticing lots of core dumps in these dirs I believe it is caused by problems with cpanel internal php build

i'm hoping /scripts/makecpphp will fix it but was wondering if anyone else is experiencing similar problems

    Go on, have a guess
Not something I've seen before. Have you tried:

/scripts/makecpphp is a bit out of date, or it was the last time I checked. You're probably better off using easyapache to update it along with the main httpd daemon. It might help to upgrade to a different php build, which are you using currently?

You could also analyse the core dumps to identify the process that created them and the possible cause of the dump. Whenever I've found core dumps on cPanel servers they're usually related to using custom kernels instead of the OS vendor supplied one.
