Cpanel customers want good scripts!!

This post is about the prehistoric scripts like entropysearch, entropybanner, melangechat or unsuitable scripts like hotlink

Entropy Search ... older script than Matusalen

Entropy Search doesnt support international language with accent like ó (to be in spanish) .... organización
Entropy Search does not index numbers
Entropy Search does not index php pages
Entropy Search is very slow and prehistoric


Entropy Banner ...

Entropy Banner does not work within the subdirectory.
When I try to get entropy banner to link to a long url, it cuts it off, making the link useless.

Cpanel customers want good scripts!! I can´t offer any of these solutions because they are unsuitable scripts that no one can use it. I think that Cpanel needs to renew these services or to clear them definitively. This is my opinion, and while this situation does not change, I wont offer this scripts to my customers. Meanwhile I will have to look for other solutions.

install fantastico if you arent happy with the default cpanel scripts

In addition to fantastico, install RVskin which allows you to add links with icons to outside scripts inside cpanel. I added all kinds of cool stuff and my customers are really enjoying it.

There is a major problem with adding .php to the list of extensions for entropysearch.

Since entropysearch doesn't pass the .php file through php itself, it stores the actual source code in the index and displays the source on subsequent searches, including any passwords or otherwise sensitive info. For that reason, adding .php is a bad idea.

[I raised a ticket 72430 for this. Perhaps the cpanel team could change the makeindex perl script to exclude anything inside php <?php ... ?> tags leaving the html behind.]
