cPanel DNS - Are CNAMEs necessary?

    We've just started using cPanel's DNS server. I notice in the zone template, www, ftp and mail are set up as CNAME records. If I change the template to make them A records instead, will that cause problems? I don't think it should; just don't know why they are set up that way by default.

    No, it won't cause problems. I would guess they were orignally setup that way for simplicity when changing an IP address.
