    Here is the scenario.

We have 4 servers running Cpanel. Due to growth, we started off with 1 server and added servers as we went along.

So we have one server which is primary ns, apache, mysql, mail.

What we want to do is move name services from this server to two smaller servers running only DNS.

    My questions:

How would you recommend to do this?

Name the new servers ns1 and ns2 and change the whm configuration to point to one of these servers?

    I assume I just:

    - put these 2 new servers in a dns cluster and install cpanel dns only version
    - change whm to point to one of these servers as its primary ns
    - bulk change the dns records to reflect the new ips of the nameservers

By the way, I am curious, is there any reason why I couldn't use cpanel on the hosting servers and directadmin on the ns servers? I don't know that I would do that but I am curious about this since the new servers came with directadmin free.

Any advice or tips would be appreciated. Since we are going to do this move, I would like for it to be done right and position us well for the future.
