cPanel 11.24.4-R34599 - WHM 11.24.2 - X 3.9

The Dovecot config file at /etc/dovecot.conf contains this setting:

Code:
# Prefix required to access this namespace. This needs to be different for
# all namespaces. For example "Public/".
prefix = INBOX.
That is not the normal config for Dovecot. Standard Dovecot would have empty value for prefix. The setting in the cPanel release, "INBOX." is the setting for Courier IMAP.

Is this non-standard configuration change intentional, or was it an accident that might be corrected in a future release?

(I am not complaining, I just want to know. I could understand why it might have been intentional, to preserve compatibility with configs in user-installed IMAP mail apps such as SquirrelMail during conversion from Courier to Dovecot. However, if it was an oversight that might be corrected in future, we would need to know in order to tell users to adjust their IMAP mail apps config when the change to standard Dovecot config value is made.)

Thanks. Could please explain the reason for this?

Was it to preserve compatibility with configs in user-installed IMAP mail apps such as SquirrelMail during conversion from Courier to Dovecot?
