    Hi,

The File Manager chmod settings for my sites for their
CPanel folders all show to have been automatically set
    to 755.

    1. Is this the default setting?

    2. Doesn't this allow others (on the same server and
the world) to view the CPanel contents?

    3. Would it hinder or negate some other function(s)
if this setting is changed to 700?

Yes, in such a scenario PHP and Perl scripts not running in SuPHP and SuExec environments would cease functioning due to insufficient permissions. In such scenarios, such scripts are being triggered by user nobody.

As a result, the scripts would need global read, and possibly global write and execute permissions as well depending on the nature of the script.

IIRC, not all files uploaded/created in file manager receive the same default permissions and it may vary depending on file type.

Thanks for the reply to question #3 ( and I quess #1).

    However, what about:

    2. Doesn't this allow others (on the same server and
the world) to view the CPanel contents?

That depends on the security measures you have enabled.
