    My apolgies.

I do not mean to offend anyone by my moment of "fun."

    It is just that...

    I live in Bali, Indonesia.
This is a place where the local communications network is a tad under par.
Sometimes it is quicker for me to FedEx a CD rather than transfer a file over the system here:)

Consequentially, that top graphics doubles my page download time.

    Such is life in paradise.

I am also not so keen on the graphic. I have my browser setup so I get maximum screen space for the webpage. To have the webpage take up half my screen with a graphic is annoying. I come to the forum for content, not pretty pictures.

The graphic was the main reason I decided not to use xskin2 when it first came out. Luckily cpanel took the graphic off WHM and now i use x rather than the default.

    scroll, scroll, scrolll...

LOL. cPanel never took off the graphic off WHM. WHM X was always that way ;)

Also, if you have to scroll with the existing forum design, then you probably have 640x480 res?

Maybe it was the cpanel x2 that had the graphic, i use xcontroller for cpanel, so i don't know if it's still there or not. I only looked at the x2 screenshots.

Resolution is 800x600 - any bigger than that and I can't read text.

If it's taking up half of your screen in 800x600, you must have entirely too many toolbars in your browser. The header is 183 pixels tall, less than 1/3 (30% actually) of the screen at 800x600.

I use firebird on a 15" LCD screen.
I use the Pinball small icon set. I have no file bar, 1 toolbar, 1 quick launch bar and 1 tabs bar. Browser is maximised. At the bottom i have a single windows bar and the firebird status bar.

I suspect that this is the maximum screen area that can be achieved while maintaining full functionality. Who else do you know that doesn't use a filebar???

There's definately something wrong with your configuration if it's showing up as half the screen. Unless you were exaggerating and/or can't measure ;)

OK, lets get down to nuts and bolts. I measure 183 pixels of wasted space. There is the first graphic - which is boring. There is the remake of Bert's graphic - which is nice but... Then there is the overly tall buttons. Then there is a space - which i didn't bother to measure. All in all the actual forum starts half way down my screen. If there is a poll such as this one, then i can't even see the first post.

Hey i figured out the problem - I don't watch TV (you got it, not at all). So my outlook on life isn't imagecentric. To be honest i find most websites to be lacking in any sort of content - most are just pretty pictures (porridge for the masses).

OK, I've had my say...unsubscribing from this thread...

Alright, fair enough. You're among 0.001% of the population, we don't design web sites for people like you ;)

Yep, if every site was designed for 800x600, it would look sooooo ugly for the majority of users. Web designers cater towards the majority, if you choose to run your computer with your res, then you have to deal with the results.

Actually, based on most stats that I have seen, 800x600 is still in the majority. Not by much, but it is in the majority.

Even my stats shows pretty close to a tie between 800x600 and 1024x768, so a half decent site still needs to look good on an 800x600 screen.

I agree with you there. There are so many sites that are very eye catching, but when you go to find what you went there for, you need patience. With most visitors, if they can't find what they want within a few seconds, they'll go elsewhere.

I guess I should at that too just to make sure know one thinks my posts are against this board. ;)

I like the new look here. I even tested it at 800x600 and true, you have to scroll down a little to start reading, but with most threads scrolling is involved anyway. The main thing is, even at 800x600, there is no horizontal scroll bar. That would be poor design.

I like the new look - but I don't like the new textsize. I have to zoom the text up to at least 120% in order to not have to squint at it.

It's pretty, but usability took a hit. Just my opinion.
