    Does any one have a working copy of cpanel? The latest one in layer1.cpanel.net/latest has a major bug, infinit loop on:
    "Adding InterDependency kernel (required by kernel)"
    while installing on a newly installed redhat linux 8.

    Thanks

    Well, mine (RH8.0) was up for one week, but in the release version by the automatic update it is giving the same error, creating a nightly 35 MB logfile, ending with an error. How can we regain a working solution as upgrading to the system is no longer possible?

    Had the install file on another server off a couple of days back and used this and worked fine. I've also submitted a ticket regarding this to Cpanel.

    We had a disk die on the layer server. The proper backup should now be restored. Sorry for any inconvience this may have caused.

    "on release Wed Oct 8 13:15:05 2003", still same problem.

    Here is the problem:

    Adding InterDependency iptables (required by kernel)
    Adding InterDependency lokkit (required by iptables)
    Adding Dependency kernel (required by iptables)
    Adding InterDependency kernel (required by kernel)
    Adding InterDependency kernel (required by kernel)
    Adding InterDependency kernel (required by kernel)
    Adding InterDependency kernel (required by kernel)
    Adding InterDependency kernel (required by kernel)
    Adding InterDependency kernel (required by kernel)
    Adding InterDependency kernel (required by kernel)
    Adding InterDependency kernel (required by kernel)
    Adding InterDependency kernel (required by kernel)
    Adding InterDependency kernel (required by kernel)
    ...

    and here is the loop that should be fixed (in cPanelRPM.pm):

    foreach my $reqbydep (@REQDEPPKGS) {
    next if ($reqbydep eq $pkg);
    next if (beginmatch("$reqbydep","MySQL-bench"));
    $llc++;
    $reqbydep =~ s/\.(i.86|noarch)\.rpm//g;
    $reqbydep =~ s/-[\w\.]+-[\w\.]+$//g;
    next if (${$self->{"deps"}}{$reqbydep} >= 1);
    print "Adding InterDependency ${reqbydep} (required by $pkg)\n";
    $self->resolvedeps($reqbydep,($level + 1),1);
    foreach my $ndep (sort keys %{$self->{"deps"}}) {
    if (($ndep =~ /^kernel-/ || $ndep =~ /^k_/) && $ndep !~ /^kernel-source/ && $ndep !~ /^kernel-pcmcia/) { next; }
    if ($ndep eq "kernel") { next; }
    if ( ${$self->{"deps"}}{$ndep} == 1 ) {
    $self->resolvedeps($ndep,($level + 1),0);
    }
    }
    }
