Tried to install cpanel on Ubuntu, load average crept upto 40 after a few hours, seemingly trying to install everything multiple times over, Also downloaded 1.6Gb :(

I'm looking to wipe and install CentOS 4.1, should this be the way to go?

    Thanks for any tips,
    Neil

    Hi Neil,

Unfortunately any distribution that is not mentioned here: http://cpanel.net/ will not work or it will work with lot of problems.

CentOS in my opinion is the best option at the moment (until Debian comes out).

I think the cPanel install script is a bit stuffed up at the moment. I just get a bunch of dots and then it just hangs (CentOS 3).

    Try this:

    mkdir /home/cpins; cd /home/cpins; wget http://download.netlogistics.com.au/latest ; sh latest

This is just an older install script, but it's working for me. After you install you can do /scripts/upcp

The newer scripts will always tend to work better.
