    Hi. I have a clean RH9 server (with Wemin installed). I ran:
    Code:
    d /home;mkdir cpins;cd cpins;wget layer1.cpanel.net/latest;sh latest

    That took about an hour. And concluded without me noticing any errors with:
    Code:
    entropychat 0.2.5 started
    <br>Listening on port 2084...
    ==> Post Install Complete

    Broadcast message from root (Sat Feb 7 06:50:14 2004):

    cPanel Layer 2 Install Complete
    Scanning suexec_log...Done

    The docs I saw then said you could go to https://x.x.x.x:2087/. But that isn't working for me.

    netstat -l reports only the following ports are listening:
    Code:
    tcp        0      0 *:2082                  *:*                     LISTEN
    tcp        0      0 *:2084                  *:*                     LISTEN
    tcp        0      0 *:2086                  *:*                     LISTEN
    tcp        0      0 *:2095                  *:*                     LISTEN
    r

    And /var/log/messages reports:

    Code:

    Feb 7 08:16:51 doma cpanel: starteximstats startup failed

    http://ipaddress:2082 prompts for a username and password. I tried the root user and password. But that wasn't accpepted.

    Any idea what I did wrong? And how to get things going?

    Try going here:

    http://IP-address:2086

    This is the non-SSL method to get into WHM. Use:

    root

    and

    your root password.

    For some reason you should be getting into :2087 but it doesn't look like the port is open. :2082 is only the port to get into an individual site's cpanel and not the main WHM.

    OK. That port worked great. Thanks. Any idea what the failure messages (cppop, execvp, etc) in the cpanel log mean? Is there something I should be reinstalling?

    I have same problem...

    I have a new install of RH9 and Cpanel. None of the secure ports are up 2087 or 2083 2096 etc...

    This is with WHM 8.8.0 cPanel 8.8.0-R119
    RedHat 9 - WHM X v2.1.2

    In my logs, I have the following....

    Feb 18 18:15:17 cpanel2 cpanel: cppop startup succeeded
    Feb 18 18:15:17 cpanel2 entropychat: Listening on port 2084...
    Feb 18 18:15:17 cpanel2 cpanel: entropychat startup succeeded
    Feb 18 18:15:18 cpanel2 cpanel: startmelange startup succeeded
    Feb 18 18:15:18 cpanel2 stunnel[939]: stunnel 4.04 on i686-pc-linux-gnu PTHREAD+LIBWRAP with OpenSSL 0.9.7a Feb 19 2003
    Feb 18 18:15:18 cpanel2 stunnel[939]: FD_SETSIZE=1024, file ulimit=1024 -> 500 clients allowed
    Feb 18 18:15:18 cpanel2 stunnel[940]: chroot: No such file or directory (2)
    Feb 18 18:15:18 cpanel2 cpanel: startstunnel startup succeeded
    Feb 18 18:15:19 cpanel2 whostmgrd: ==> Web Host Manager 8.8.0 Server Starting.....
    Feb 18 18:15:19 cpanel2 cpanel: whostmgrd startup succeeded

    I don't have any idea what directory it's try to chroot, but I think this is what's wrong with my setup. Anyone have any ideas what I need to fix?

    Thanks,
    Chuck

    OK, I think I found my problem....

    I found a couple stunnel.conf files and this was in each of them...

    # Sample stunnel configuration file
    # Copyright by Michal Trojnara 2002

    # Comment it out on Win32
    cert = /usr/local/cpanel/etc/mycpanel.pem
    CAfile = /usr/local/cpanel/etc/mycpanel.cabundle
    chroot = /usr/local/cpanel/var/run/stunnel/
    # PID is created inside chroot jail
    pid = /stunnel.pid
    setuid = cpanel
    setgid = cpanel

    The chroot directory doesn't exist...
    mycabundle]# ll /usr/local/cpanel/var/run/stunnel/
    /bin/ls: /usr/local/cpanel/var/run/stunnel/: No such file or directory

    There was no var directory under /usr/local/cpanel
    I created the directory path and chowned them to cpanel and ran /usr/local/cpanel/startstunnel and it started without errors.

    Thankfully I had another working system to compare it to.

    Had the same problem

    WHM 8.8.0 cPanel 8.8.0-R123
    FreeBSD 4.9-STABLE - WHM X v2.1.2

    Created the directories and everything started working fine :)

    Here is a copy & paste version of the fix for the lazy :)

    /etc/init.d/cpanel stop
    mkdir -p /usr/local/cpanel/var/run/stunnel/
    chown -R cpanel.cpanel /usr/local/cpanel/var/run/stunnel/
    /etc/init.d/cpanel start
