Hi folks, quick question, or two...

I lease some shared hosting, I use C Panel to run my websites.

    1. Quite often, a few times a month, I suffer from 'C Panel Lockout'. So I contact my admin and when he wakes up in the morning he fixes it for me. - Question - Is a few times a month normal ?

    2. Last night I came across this problem...

    "Unknown License File Version
    cpanel.net"

...when trying to login. I have been told it is an issue with c panel servers.

    "Cpanel license servers are down.
Thats why your seeing that message.
As far as we know they are working on it."

Question - Does this sound accurate ?
Another Question - If so when will the C Panel servers come back up so I can work on my sites ?

My admin seems like a decent guy and Im sure this is all correct info, but it's always good to double check.

    Thanks :)

We only had ONE of our THREE license servers go down in the last month, so I seriously doubt thats the problem.

The cPanel liscense server(s) have definately been a little wonky lately, so yes, your sysadmin is correct.

    Regards,

<edit> Nick beat me, but, http://forums.site5.com/showthread.php?t=3247 as you see there, a major host is having problems with this </edit>

    --------
This seems to conflict with other stuff I've read.

    ---------
An interesting sentence from the other forum :P

As for the frequent C Panel lockouts, is that a C Panel problem or my hosts ?

Over the past year, we have twice had an issue with customers not being able to access cPanel for a short period of time as they got a license error. In fact, by the time we went to investigate, there was no longer the issue.

But a few times a month seems abnormal.

we have not had all 3 license servers down at the same time. We had 1 of the 3 fail for a short period, it was taken out of the rotation and then brought back in approx 4hrs later after it was fixed.

If you are getting these errors and believe there is a problem please open a support ticket with us.
