This might sound really dumb, but it worked for me on 2 different servers:

Go into WHM and change the root mysql password, then restart mysql.

he doesn't seem to have root access....

It seems like you need to get a new host with better/faster support...

But then what do you expect for $2 a month for unlimited everything?

    Wow.

First thing, perhaps grammer could be a bit better (if English isn't primary language...it's understandable).

Second thing, the server's MySQL server is down. Tell them that. If you go to the Service Status page, I would bet that it would show MySQL as failed.

    Hello,

please check whether the musql.sock is present on the server. It should be there in /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock , /tmp/mysql.sock and /var/tmp/mysql.sock .

The /tmp/mysql.sock should be a softlink to /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock.

    Regards,
    Sreenadh.
