    Hi guys. A few questions.

    Hers is a list of files -> http://leithal.cool-tools.co.uk/sourcedoc/mysql509/html/dir_000128.html

    I guess I must be having these in my server as well, any idea how to get them? I need to edit one of these files and hence need the path.

    Next, is there anyone out here who knows how to edit the latin1.xml file's <ctype><map> section?

    This is given as this -

    <ctype>
    <map>
    00
    20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 28 28 28 28 28 20 20
    20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20
    48 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10
    84 84 84 84 84 84 84 84 84 84 10 10 10 10 10 10
    10 81 81 81 81 81 81 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01
    01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 10 10 10 10 10
    10 82 82 82 82 82 82 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02
    02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 10 10 10 10 20
    10 00 10 02 10 10 10 10 10 10 01 10 01 00 01 00
    00 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 02 10 02 00 02 01
    48 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10
    10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10
    01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01
    01 01 01 01 01 01 01 10 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 02
    02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02
    02 02 02 02 02 02 02 10 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02
    </map>
    </ctype>

    Anyone here knows how to edit this file to incorporate a couple of new word characters here? If I have understood well, these crypted characters tells that & and - are not word characters, and I can change that definiton here.

    Thanks for any help, it's been 4 days now that i'm in this issue ... :(

    Concerning the list of files

    Using the locate command from a root shell on any of the given file names should help you find where they are.

    That said, there may be some related problems.

    The files are C source and would be used only when building MySQL during the installation of MySQL. Once installed, these files are of little or no use and so I wouldn't be surprised if they're then deleted by the cPanel MySQL installer, if indeed it installs from source. That's the first problem.

    Secondly, cPanel will download the latest relevant source or RPM for MySQL, install from that and then, presumably, delete the source or RPM.

    Unless you can find a way to pause the cPanel MySQL installer after it has downloaded the latest source, assuming it builds from source and doesn't use a RPM, edit the source and then get the cPanel MySQL installer to pick up where it left off, you're not going to have much luck.

    In short, if you want to install MySQL from your own modified source code, which is what you want to do, then you'll have to manually install MySQL and won't be able to use the cPanel installer. This is assuming the cPanel MySQL installer works as I've described, which is based on assumptions of mine that seem the most likely.

    latin.xml file
    You mention that you want to edit the latin.xml file as '&' and '-' are not recognised as word characters. This is because they are not - they are punctuation, not word characters, assuming that a word character is any character than can legitimately occur in a word using the latin alphabet.

    What is the problem you are trying to solve here? The option of specifying '&' and '-' as word characters is not a solution as they are not word characters.
