cpanel not working problem

I have been having problems with my server lately.

For start, I found the server to be unresponsive few days back. Then today, I can't go into cpanel or whm or ssh. But websites seems to be working fine. I can still go into my sites.

This forces me to reboot the server. Once I rebooted, assuming everything went back to normal, I want to find out what happened. I need some advice on how to go about checking what's the problem. What log files should I look into?

did some investigation myself and found /var folder to be very large.

Inside this folder, there is a folder which is taking like 40GB!!!

/var/log/audit.d

In this folder, there are like tons of file with names like "saves.9999" where the numbers varies. Can someone let me know if this is related to cpanel or not. Can I delete these files and so on.
