Tried to password protect my clients directories through cpanel - pretty straightforward I thought. But after I add a user and check the lock icon to protect the directory, on the site that directory is not protected.

Also, when you look at the directories again thru cpanel, nothing seems to be protected! Can anyone advise hwo to resolve this? Any settings in WHM that have to be changed?

    Thanks kindly... Support Ticket Number:

    Dear nitind,
The Password protection feature will not be applied for root directories,it works only for subdirectories. Also check the directory permissions of the directory you are trying to protect. If you want to Protect the root directory, then try adding the following lines in your .htaccess file:

    Options All Indexes
    IndexOptions FancyIndexing
