    Hey all

I recently download and installed cpanel on my comp. Platform := Centos 4 / Red Hat Enterprise 4. Once it was installed i shut the computer down and went to bed. When i woke up in the morning and booted the machine i found that i was unable to get into the GUI. I am now stuck with a message that reads as follows :

This computer system is for authorized users only. Individuals using this
system without authority or in excess of their authority are subject to
having all their activities on this system monitored and recorded or
examined by any authorized person, including law enforcement, as system
personnel deem appropriate. In the course of monitoring individuals
improperly using the system or in the course of system maintenance, the
activities of authorized users may also be monitored and recorded. Any
material so recorded may be disclosed as appropriate. Anyone using this
    system consents to these terms.

Any help would be much appreciated ?

    Thanks
    Wazza

What do you mean by GUI, are you unable to login to WHM? or are you referring to X windows?

I do believe he means X windows.

The X server is disabled with cPanel installations to help prevent against exploits and the like.

I mean the GUI as in graphical user interface on the linux system.

I am able to login to WHM, but ever since I installed cpanel and rebooted the machine, I am unable to get into the graphical user interface. I get stuck at a command prompt/shell in linux.

As Blue|Fusion has said, any X windows processes are stopped and disabled during the cPanel installation. X windows has no place on a web server and as such simply wastes resources and exposes the server. You are going to have to use SSH to login and use the shell to manage the server.

This seems to be a common question. Wonder what the chances are of cpanel adding this note that cpanel disables the x window GUI in big letters to the download pages so maybe most people will see this ?
