It appears after the most recent whm/cpanel upgrade my blacklist for exim is no longer acceptable.

If I enter the previously saved configuration, make any kind of change, then undo the change my old configuration isn't able to be saved.

I get "each line must be a vaild entry".

I see nothing in the changelog regarding this.

What happened?

Please let us know the following information so that we may more accurately diagnose the issue and assist with corrective guidance:
1.) What is the full version and build number of your cPanel installation?
2.) What is the exact blacklist you are attempting to setup or modify? There is more than one so we will need to know which list you're trying to use.
3.) What is the full (error) message detail being displayed that indicates a problem; is there anything more than "each line must be a valid entry"?
4.) What is an example of the configuration being entered into the blacklist?
Using the above information we can attempt to reproduce the same behavior.

I can't post the blacklist, I can send it privately to someone if that's acceptable.

cPanel 11.25.0-R45750 - WHM 11.25.0 - X 3.9

I posted the exact error message.

The blacklist is the exim config blacklist through whm / exim config.

Thank you for the version information and clarification. The exact entries should not be necessary for me to reproduce the issue; instead, please provide an example that resembles the same format of the entries being setup.

For the blacklist entries that trigger an error, does it contain only IP addresses and IP address ranges/blocks, or does it contain also host names and or domain names?

It's all networks, ie 0.0.0./24.

While it's possible, I do have an error somewhere in the file why isn't the changelog for cPanel stating that things have changed in regards to Exim?

cPanel never attempted to validate blacklist entries before.

I can try rebuilding the rather large blacklist and it will probably resolve the error however we need to know why changes are being made to cPanel without being reported as being done.

Thanks

The configuration entries must be valid with proper syntax; this has always been the intention. I believe input validation and syntax checking has been improved; however, I do not recall exact build numbers or a time frame in which this may have occurred.

Is there a particular reason you would want to retain entries with invalid syntax that would effectively not work and or may break the desired functionality?

Well, our blacklist is probably at least 200 lines long. I did go through it and sure enough there were some errors.

Im not sure if 1% of the list having an error would make the rest of the list invalid however it was very difficult to troubleshoot since when the entries were created no syntax checking was provided.

The syntax checking is good after-the-fact after it's been provided however previous to this I think it's fair to say it would accept anything with a /.

Where in the changelog is this documented?

I'll just consider this a note that the changelog doesn't reflect changes being done in cPanel.

As stated previously I do not recall the precise time frame or exact build number in which the specific correction(s) may have been implemented in cPanel version 11.25.0; I apologize for the inconvenience.

The closest match that I could locate for you is detailed in the change log for the EDGE build tree, which is currently at version 11.25.1; for reference, you may use the EDGE change log to review initial information about the latest updates before they are made available in other build trees including CURRENT, RELEASE, and STABLE, as posted in the cPanel Change Log: Edge 45714 @ 2010-05-12 22:32:19, Added data validation to Tweak Settings, Exim Configuration Editor and Basic cPanel/WHM Setup interfaces

Please be aware that while we strive to ensure accuracy in the change log it is possible that human error may take place as each of the published change log entries must be manually entered and updated; if you believe there is a discrepancy I recommend submitting a Bug Report so that we may assist with verification and correction where applicable.
