This is the first time I am managing a server. I have a VPS and we will only be serving our company web sites.

So far I have three accounts. root, account1 and account2. Account1 holds all the functionallity of our site except for the database. Account2 owns the database which can be accessed by the script(PHP) running in account1. I decided to do this way in case one of my passwords is ever compromised so that this person would not have access to both my script and the database.

As I mentioned before, I am a noob and I am not sure if this is the way to go. I am looking for advice on how to setup my accounts and what to do to prevent hacking into my server. I currently have the ssh tweak on( no authentication) but i turned it off every time i need to ssh into my server because i have not being able to make ssh work with keys.

    Any help will be appreciated.
