    Hi

I have queried some high server load with my host and they have advised it is an issue with cPanel

    This is their reply

'The high loads on the server is due to a bug in the current cpanel version where in the log update program cpanellogd takes up 60 to 90% of the cpu load for a few minutes. We have informed cpanel developers of this and hopefully the issue would be fixed in the next release. I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you because of this.'

Can someone please confirm whether this is correct or not.

    Thanks

    Greg

    Hello!

I am having the same problem
Server Load is up to over 20.00 and all websites are extremely slow.
Once the Server Load is up that high the server can't be restarted from WHM any more and needs to be manually rebooted.
If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

    Thanks

/scripts/upcp or from whm update cpanel to latest version.

For me it fixed the problem for awhile, but server load went back up to 6.45 and 10.56

it's going up and down for unknown reasons. still trying to figure out the problem.

I am also seeing the log updating program using a lot of CPU, up to 40-90% briefly, though this isn't really causing any major problems with loads.

The problem is comming from IPTABLES
they are bogging down the system.

I found the fix in one of the support forums yesterday but can't seem to find it now.

    The fix did work.

All our machines are running ipchains, not iptables ...EXIM is spawning dozens and hundreds of times, thats gotta be the issue.

That has happened to me since a nightly Cpanel update 2 nights ago. If your server load is high, run the following ps command and post it here so we can see if it is Exim running zombie processes eating up the server load.

    ps ax

I have been searching all over the forums now but cant find the fix any more.

I did multible fixes yesterday and cant remember which one worked for this problem.

    run:
    /scripts/sysup

    also

    /etc/rc.d/init.d/iptables stop
    /etc/rc.d/init.d/iptables start

    and also
    " /etc/init.d/bandmin stop", then "/etc/init.d/bandmin start".

i am not sure which one it was that fixed this problem but it was definetly solved and has not returned.
