Don't like it. compared to blue lagoon where everything is on one page.
I'll be clicking myself to death in this and than have to wait for all graphics to go through https.
And for all of this I will have the pleasure of having to cough-up $100 + $20 for automatic upgrades.

Admitting there is nice work and it has some advantages but certainly not $100 worth

Generally at this is my personal opinion only I would not use as it is, even it it is FREE.
The missing General account information and General Server information on the frontpage (I did not even bother to see if it might be anywhere else) is just to much of a drawback.

The "X" theme does nicely for me

For some people this might be worth the money as it at first glance even looked nice to me.
But already 5 minutes later the shine was gone when I tried the sample installation.

Non re-sizable window and ugly scrollbars everywhere.
Quite frankly my question. "Is the thoroughness of this sample set-up a sign for the rest???"

Why don't you guys who try to sell something not get it road-tested by picky(real critical and not just POLITE) guys like me before you release it?

Almost perfect stuff - I already have enough!!!

If you can't do it perfect why BOTHER AT ALL ???

Also it rather strikes me as very strange that the second most important language in the world (in economic terms from the spending power and wealth of about 150.000.000 Germans, Austrians and Swiss) isn't even in the list.

Could it be that this market is to fussy about the quality of a product?

What I like is that at least something is done and an attempt is made. So with a bit of product development and maintenance this is a step in the right direction.
So keep going...

Best Regards
Ralf

PS. I just gave up smoking 2 weeks ago - after 24 years.
Maybe this is a reason why I am a bit argumentative.
So please see this as just one opinion and make up your own.

Ralf,

You did a good job being a critic. But I think this sentence is completely uncalled for:
"I would not use as it is, even it it is FREE."

I'll be clicking myself to death in this and than have to wait for all graphics to go through https.
We are not the only skin that has icons.
You still have to load the icons for all other skins.
I don't understand why you chose to target us.

Admitting there is nice work and it has some advantages but certainly not $100 worth
The missing General account information and General Server information on the frontpage (I did not even bother to see if it might be anywhere else)
That is the reason why some people bought our skin and some don't because some see the value some don't.
And how can you see the value if you don't even bother to click on the 'Account Info' button on the top that will lead you to both the general acct and general server info.

PLUS we are releasing new languages soon.
16 languages altogether.
Here is our language translation information:
Available:
° English
° Russian
° Portuguese
° French
° Italian
° Indonesian
Upcoming:
° Chinese Traditional: 95%
° Chinese Simplified: 95%
° Spanish : 95%
° Dutch : 95%
° Romanian : 20%
° Arabic : N/A
° Ukrainian: N/A
° Estonian : N/A
° Japanese : N/A
° Polish : N/A

You don't see many skin offering reseller customization do you? Your RESELLER can even customize the Cpanel XP even he has no root access. Take a look.
http://www.cpanelskindepot.com/images/feature_branding.gif

I see other Cpanel skins that has no ability to turn feature on and off, no language options selling for close to $100 too.
PLUS there is the $7 option if you think $97 is too much.
reference: http://www.cpanelskindepot.com/pricing.php

Non re-sizable window and ugly scrollbars everywhere.
Check the DEMO out as I have no idea what you mean by ugly scrollbar as what I see is the Windows XP scrollbar.
The only way to change it is to call up Microsoft.

Why don't you guys who try to sell something not get it road-tested by picky(real critical and not just POLITE) guys like me before you release it?
PLUS
I did not even bother to see if it might be anywhere else
You don't even bother to click to the second page, do you think you will bother to check all the hundreds of pages for us?

Almost perfect stuff - I already have enough!!!
If you can't do it perfect why BOTHER AT ALL ???
You can mention that to Bill Gates.
Get him to make a perfect Windows OS, mention if he can't do it don't release it to the market.

We never claim to be perfect. Every skin has it's bugs.
Lucky for us we have loyal and understanding customer base
who are willing to allow us to work on the bugs instead of freaking out asking for a refund.

Also it rather strikes me as very strange that the second most important language in the world (in economic terms from the spending power and wealth of about 150.000.000 Germans, Austrians and Swiss) isn't even in the list.
We are still looking for a German translator.
AND is there any skin this planet that has Austrian translation?

We welcome any criticism,
I don't mind giving anyone a trial license as long as long as you bother to thoroughly try the product and do it OBJECTIVELY. One thing I like is you make a real good critic if you can be more professional and objective in your criticism.
You can PM me for a trial license if you are interested to try it out.

Hi Roy,
This was not meant to be a slanging match, rather some first impression.

When you post such propaganda for your own product here on the forum you must expect some sort of response.

In my first post I wrote about your sample in the pop-up window :
"Non re-sizable window and ugly scrollbars everywhere."
You wrote:
Check the DEMO out as I have no idea what you mean by ugly scrollbar as what I see is the Windows XP scrollbar.
I inform you herewith how it goes:
Click on horizontal menu, third item from the left says "Demo".
After a little while the page "cpanel_skin_demo.php" appears.
The first picture(login_screen.jpg) has a link over it to call a java-script which pops open a window in 347x251px loading "cpanel_login.htm".
Unfortunately it contains a table of 799x600px
After the login page both scrollbars are fortunately gone.
What remains is a single vertical greyed out scrollbar.
That is easily removed without compromising layout.
But I am not the one to tell you all basic tricks.

Furthermore you must think I fell of the Christmas tree telling me that there is a cheaper option if I think $97 is to much.
PLUS there is the $7 option if you think $97 is too much.
I found an even cheaper option you are selling it for.
24 cents. is all you want.
Oops - I forgot to mention this is per day.
But it still is cheaper as it's only 24p. Never mind if per day. At least that's what you telling us by your $7.00 per month rent as compared to $97 for outright buy.

You can mention that to Bill Gates.
Get him to make a perfect Windows OS, mention if he can't do it don't release it to the market.
I would always orientate myself upward to achieve better not downward to rectify what I do.
Other than this. The man can hardly be considered anything more than a crafty and caniving salesman.
To call him a software programer is an insult to the trade.
Paul Allen is a different issue than Billy Boy.

As to this statement of yours I really don't know what to say.
It is only shocking me.

We are still looking for a German translator.
AND is there any skin this planet that has Austrian translation?
They speak German in Austria that is why Adolf Hitler spoke German despite being Austrian and NOT GERMAN !!!

And finally don't you think that it might be a bit of an insult to use the multi-language argument for the price being almost $100.
You must be paying your translators a fortune.
$6/100 words is going rate English to German Translations

It's a shame that you felt you had to go on the attack after some productive criticism.

There is a nice saying in British English:
""If you can't stand the heat - get out of the kitchen"

Your Panel deserves better, than your reply to my earlier post. You should have taken it in and not responded defensively.
People can just vote with their feet and you would be none the wiser why!!!

Regards
Ralf

PS. Thank for your Trial Licence offer, but I find I cannot take up your offer after this email.

I thought that was a Harry Truman quote. I guess he could have been borrowing it. Any way it goes, that saying exists in American English as well ;)

Roy, I have to agree with Ralf. Ralf did take the time to explain his issues with your skin instead of simply saying "I think it sucks" and leaving it at that.

This is a forum made up (the active members at least) of mostly cpanel admins. This is not a group of people that are going to be impressed simply because you know how to post a web page.

If you don't want feedback, then I suggest you consider banner advertising.

Well,

Any criticism is welcome as I mentioned before but just make sure it is objective and a little more professional.
The post about you think it is not worth it even if it was free was a little unprofessional.
I took your criticism, including all customers', productively.

Thanks for the German translation link.
I will contact them and see what they say.

And although Bill doesn't do much programming, he was once a very talented programmer who did an OS for IBM.
There was a reason why they chose him, because he writes the slickest codes back then.

Sarcnbit, you posted seconds before I did, now I have to edit my post to reply to you. :)

I welcome ralf's review, I even praised his cpanel skin criticism job in another post, but it wasn't a fair review for Cpanel XP which might be misleading to readers.

If you don't want feedback, then I suggest you consider banner advertising.
That will not work. banners don't prevent people from posting.

Well, regarding Cpanel XP 2004, let the customers judge by themselves then.
:)

You could be right, I wouldn't know as English is not my native language.
It's in the UK where I first heard this saying.
Since the English is native to the UK I automatically assumed.
I might be wrong - just trying to picture the saying with an American accent ;)
Just help me what sort of American accent would I be looking for? Which US accent did Truman have?

Regards
Ralf

PS. @ Roy. Yes I saw your other posting - I thought you were being sarcastic as it did not make sense to me considering your posting here.
But if you wish your panel to be road-tested I suggest you'll send it to me and I do you a translation into German. Presumingly you would wave any charge then? As well as for the updates, since they will require further translations. Does your theme auto-updates?

Please drop me mail at [email protected] so we can get a review part II from you.

People complaining about the price of this skin are forgetting the makers will be paying royalties to Microsoft for use of some of it's graphics and icons within another product.

They don't just give them away!

I guess Bill wouldn't be too upset with the idea of people spreading the microsoft influence in the linux world.
And please be rest assured that in the EXTREME CASE that Bill gets grouchy about that, and the high profile softwares below were forced to change their icons, we will follow suit. We got it covered.

====================
|| Did you know ?

|| The latest Plesk control
|| panel is totally XPfied?

The features are incredible and Roy, as always, you have done a great job completing it. I currently own licenses, but the only reason I am hesitant to upgrae my license is simply because of support. I've been a client for a little over a year and a half, and since then, upgrades have just seemed to be rare and far in between. We had some clients who joined right on board with the skin, but when the skin wasn't keeping up with the features of CPanel, one by one clients were dropping right off. Once an update did come through, we would update immedietly and still it wouldn't include everything.

It looks like you are on the ball now Roy, and I wish the best to you. Of course, in a year or so and your product is going well, I can build up the confidence to make a purchase. If you haven't already done so, you should begin a message board system and also start working on another skin (as I think a not-so-graphic heavy CPanel Skin would also be incredible). That way, you have several skins to chose from your site and you can gain more weight as a skin-provider. The site is excellent... includes great information about the skin. That's an excellent improvement.

Roy, continue to hold firm and thank you for providing an great skin.

We admit our weakest point was update for the old version.
Which is why our new skin was completely coded from scratch, The code you see in the new skin is completely different from the old one. This allows easier update and more flexibility when updating and adding features which is why we are having the mods section.

We are working on really nice mods and will get them online as soon as they are ready.

>>>>as I think a not-so-graphic heavy CPanel Skin would also be incredible
We have a surprise upcoming feature which is going to take care of that.

And you don't have to purchase the skin if you own the old version, you only have to subscribe to the updates which is $20/yr.
