Cpanel SSH Keys - defect function?

    Hello,
    i have disabled password authentication and want to login with ssh keys.

    I made the following:
    Then i authorized the public key and downloadet the private key with password for it as ppk file format (copied the field content and pasted it as test.ppk) and then when i connect to SSH with key it's getting accepted but after enter password i get this error:
    Could someone help please?:(

    If I was to take a guess, it would have to do with this:
    Easy to make a mess copy/pasting (spaces, bad characters etc), IMHO.

    No, it's not because of missing keys. I have copied the complete content 3 times - no chance to get it work :(.

    I'm having the same problem.

    I'm using Putty - I wonder if there's a problem with the conversion utility.

    Yes, it's defect. It's copying the keys to the wrong place and also don't turn ssh pubkey authorisation on. I fixed it through ssh by myself. No way to get it working with cpanel itself.

    I am having such problem few months ago and there for I have used PuTTYgen software to generate the key and disabled root password on server. Now a days I am using more then 40 server with ssh key. Every user having its own SSH key. You can refer following URL to check how to enable SSH user with respective key and disable root login.

    Got it working by generating the keys with PuTTYgen and manually adding the public keys to the authorized_keys file.
