I set up a subdirectory using CPanel's built in system in order to place a blog there to optimize a site for Google Panda. I was told not to do that but to use a CName instead. I'm not quite sure of the difference, whether there is a difference, and if it would impact on what I'm trying to do. Can someone speak on this subject?

Hello :)

I suggest following the instructions of the application you are attempting to configure. There is likely a specific reason it advises to just create a CNAME entry. Creating a subdomain via cPanel automatically configures the cPanel, DNS, and Apache entries to allow the subdomain to be hosted on the server. If the CNAME is pointing to another server, none of those entries are required. Simply edit the DNS Zone to point the subdomain to the CNAME entry advised.

Thank you.
