DirectAdmin has a website with tutorials on most aspects of DA at http://site-helper.com/. This is great for lowering support requests and is a nice site to use. I am thinking of making a similar website for cPanel which would be free to use and I was wondering whether people would be interesting in linking to it on their support pages? It would not have adverts and would lower support requests.

Also, I would need some people to write tutorials for it- would anyone be interested in writing some? I would put a tagline at the bottom of each article saying 'Thanks to Joe Bloggs of www.blahblahhosting.com' and would also have a page with contributers.

Would you guys be interesting in something like this?

Great- would that be writing tutorials or linking, or both? :)

I've decided to go ahead with it, but am stuck on a name. I have only come up with

    cphelp.com
    chelp.com
    thecpanelproject.com

so far- what do you think of those? Any other ideas?

I would participate with this project with the stipulation that contributors could mirror the articles for their own clients. :)

EDIT: This message should go after webtiva's (the next post)

You would be able to put the tutorial you wrote on your site, but not everyone elses. I would offer an option to have your logo and branding on our site, so your customers would effectively think it was your support site, for $5 per month. Would you be interested in that?

I would contribute articles to the site, but rather than linking to your site for my clients I would want to host the articles myself on my own support site. I understand you don't want to place ads on your site, but some hosts might not want to push clients to another site for support. :)

I don’t see why you wouldn't want to link them to a resource environment, unless you want to charge extra. Many clients end up on the forums here without even talking to the host for support first, "I need help with cpanel, lets got to cpanel.net". But by my understanding with this site is that wouldn’t be pimped by "HOST HERE" this and that ads. It would simply be "cpanel little helpers site". As well I think the branding would be a nice idea but isn’t a necessary needed in this case. but is a way to provide profit and help with payments for the services provided free.

I like the idea and I’ll keep my hands in my pocket so I don’t run with it ;) - I have extra ideas but as well staying in my pocket.

Guess this would be my fear. Maybe I'm being selfish... I would still contribute. :D

The site wouldn't have ads anywhere, and would only be paid for by web hosts paying for branded tutorials.

I've decided on The cpanel project and started making the website. If you want to do a tutorial on the subject listed, then please do, and PM or email it to me.

    Any comments are always appreciated.

I would make a default format requirement. If it doesn’t follow this rule, it won’t be accepted. Font, Layout, Titles – also it would be nice to see an option to pick which theme.

Maybe include a system with what the guy said above. About it being on your own site, something like a database/feed system for paid members only (tracked by server IP and user’s membership ID)

I'll give you a PM later, I love the idea still.

I'll add more information on the structure of the articles soon, and a submission form. I'm also currently a list of skins to go under the title, where the users can click their preferred one and all images in tutorials will show that skin.

I haven't thought much about having the feed to go on someones website but it is definately something I would consider.

Unfortunately I do not have the time to carry on with this project, so am selling the domain, idea and website design to anyone interested in carrying on what could be a very successfull project.

I have been in talks with cPanel and a major skin provider, who are interested in directly linking to the project. I am in no doubt it could be successful and financially rewarding.

Please PM me any bids. I am looking for a fast sale, and included in the price is a years free hosting.
