    Hello

I´m receiving lastly 2 emails to root from my WHM.
    Both at 00:25

    Subject: cPanel update hanging

    Body :
/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/upcp was running as pid 'xxxxx' for longer than 6 hours. cPanel will kill this process and run a new upcp in its place.

Just that.. and nothing more happens.
All looks fine but every night i got those emails.

    I have :
    CENTOS 6.3 x86_64
    WHM 11.34.1 (build 5)

    Any clue?

    Regards and thanks in advance
    Fabian

    Check the update logs in:
    /var/cpanel/updatelogs/

    Thanks for your answer :)

I saw the last logs and apparently the stuff stop always in :

    - Processing command `/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/resetmailmanurls`

This happened at december, 19, 20 and 21
but in december, 18.. the process ends perfect

    What you think? :)

    Regards
    Fabian

You could check the permissions and owner of that script:
    Code:
    root@srv10 [~]# ls -la /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/resetmailmanurls
    root@srv10 [~]# -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 2986 Jan 14 2012 /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/resetmailmanurls

You could also try to force the update:
    Code:
    root@srv10 [~]# /scripts/upcp --force

    Hello quietFinn

when i make the ls -la command i get exactly the same permissions like you.

If i run the upcp with --force from SSH it works ok.
The point is the automatic upcp from WHM.. in fact is weird.. some days.. it works perfect,, and many other days.. it hangs..

    Hello brianoz

when i run /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/resetmailmanurls -- apparently works fine.. take a lot time but works.
I think what can be the problem maybe..

I have mailman disabled in whm.. but there is some clients with mailman lists created (surely without using becaue nobody claimed me and mailman was disabled a lot time ago :)..
could be possible this causes any conflict?

    Regards
    Fabian

    Hello

    unfortunably.. nothing works :(

Now I´m trying to run /scripts/upcp --force and again..

    it hangs in :

    [20130114.165330] - Processing command `/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/resetmailmanurls`

I´m not using mailman in any site in this server. In fact I have disabled mailman..
Is any way in cpanel to unsitall completely mailman and avoid the upcp do this part??

    Regards
    Fabian

In the ticket, it appears that there was a missing configuration file for one of the lists. Our analyst copied /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/mailman/lists/mailman/config.cpk to /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/mailman/lists/domain.tld/ and that fixed the problem.

    Hello !!

    this is happening again..
exactly the same error.. I´ve tried to fix it in the same way the last time the cpanel support fixed me.. but still happening..

can anyone answer me this :
is possible UNINSTALL mailman and all the dependencies from cpanel?.. so the upcp skip the part where all is blocked?

[20130420.130404] - Processing command `/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/resetmailmanurls` --> this is the part when upcp hangs..

    Regards
    Fabian

I suggest opening a new ticket to have this addressed so we can determine why the "/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/resetmailmanurls" command is failing to complete successfully on your server.

    Thank you.

Hi, I have been receiving the same message for about a week now.
    "cPanel update hanging
/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/upcp was running as pid '16294' for longer than 6 hours. cPanel will kill this process and run a new upcp in its place."

My /var/cpanel/updatelogs/ shows every days update starting by killing a previous procces and starting anew one, like this:

And the logs end with "Completed all updates" without any indication of something abnormal.

There is not enough information in those logs to determine why the cPanel update process is hanging. Could you open a support ticket so we can take a closer look? You can provide the ticket number here and we can update this thread with the outcome.

    Thank you.

I am not a direct customer and probably that's preventing me from opening a ticket (my IP and ID are rejected).
I did contact my provider, they did check the issue and they replied that cpanel update is working so there seems to be no problem.
But the phenomenon just continue: the same "update hanging " message and a log starting by lilling a prior process and then going through successfully.
    Any ideas?

You can try running a command such as this when the cPanel update is in progress:

    Code:
    ps auxf
Look to see if any particular process related to the cPanel update hangs and is not killed when the cPanel update finishes. You can also report this to your hosting provider and have them open a ticket with us if necessary so we can investigate the issue for you.

    Thank you.
