If Archive is greater than 1.9-2gb

    Hi,

    More info on my problem...

if the file is under 2gb then we can see and d/load it... if its over then we can't...

So the question now is how / what do i need to edit to enable FTP transfers / viewing of files 2gb and above

server is setup to use poureftp through cpanels setup

Found the problem... now i have another :(

pureftpd has to be compiled with the largefiles option which it isn't to transfer files 2gb and above

proftpd shows and transferes the files correctly so it seems

the problem was that pureftpd isn't setup compiled supporting largfiles option ... so i switched back to proftpd...
but now when i try to restart proftpd in cpanel i get this error msg

ftpserver: [500 != 220] ftpserver has failed, please contact the sysadmin

and in server status its saying that the ftpd server has failed... however on loging on to ssh i can see the proftpd server running... and i can access it through a ftp client..

bit i keep getting msgs mailed to me stating that the ftpdserver has failed and is restarting

I've tried running those scripts.. no failuers when running them... but the ftpd server is still failing :( and still getting the same error msg when i tell cpanel to restart the ftpd server

    Problem Solved....

I ran the /script file to rebuild the proftpd config file... and now everything is ok again...

I wonder why it didn't run it automatically when I swapped back to proftpd from pureftpd...

Oh well my 7 day ordeal is finaly over... i've lost a few clients but now the problem is solved.. ;)

hope my msgs in here can help others who may encounter the same or similar problems ;)

    pure-ftpd large files

In this age of large files and fat connections it seems silly to create a system that is limited to only 2G files. It took me days to figure out why some files on our system were invisible.

Great if pure-ftpd is more secure but if it cannot be a reliable ftpd server it has no use.

I too have not been able to remove this program off my server even though I have tried several times to switch back to proftpd using whm.

Maybe your suggestions will help. I will try again.

Anybody want to venture a guess as to how cPanel would respond to my trying to recompile pure-ftpd and/or how to best attempt this?

    Thanks,
    Howard

    =-=-=-=

Update. Still cannot get PureFTPd off my machine with WHM. Any help with how to recompile the program so we can do 2G files would be appreciated.

    H
